About English Pale Ale

The first beers of this style were brewed in the English city of Burton-upon-Trent. Known to the English as simply a bitter, the term English Pale Ale was coined by Americans to denote the same style. English Pale Ales are light amber in color and are often heavily hopped. They tend to have aromas of ripe fruit and wood and sharply bitter flavors. The bitter flavors cut through heavy sauces, fats and oils, making English Pale Ale an excellent companion for smoked meats, sausages and oily fish.
