Dark American Lagers are deep amber to dark brown in color. Their aroma will be roasted and malty, often with slight notes of hops. Lagers of this style should be clean, crisp, and relatively sweet. Rarely does one flavor dominate; instead the flavors of roasted malt, hops, and gentle fruitiness will play off one another within the dark body of these beers. Lagers of this kind are smooth, light in body, and highly carbonated.
