Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale December 3, 2010
Overall Rating

This was better than their pale, but there's something about the finishing flavor. I don't know WTF it is, but I don't like it. It must be ye olde style brewing.

102 Double Wheat June 18, 2011
Overall Rating

I certainly don't mind most of the Spoetzl beers, but this one really turned me off. I'm pretty sure it's the malted wheat, which gives it a sweet taste--reminds me of sake. Pouring it in a glass helped with this flavor, but it still wasn't enough.

Trappistes Rochefort 8 January 16, 2012

The best of the Rochefort beers. A pretty good dubbel, but would I rather have it than a Chimay red? Probably not.

Chimay Grande Réserve December 4, 2010

For the longest time, I knew nothing about the Trappist monks and their creations. After getting a suggestion from a co-worker, I decided to try it out. Where have you been all of my life? This is the best beer I've ever had, and that was out of a bottle. If I ever find it on tap (or better yet, straight from the abbey), I better have an extra pair of pants.

A fairly non-memorable strong abbey ale. I've certainly had better. That being said, it's not bad, but I won't go looking for it--Chimay is just a better choice.

It smells like bad bacon. It tastes like sweet honey ham. I want to vomit. Edit: djkieras, bacon does make everything better, but I don't know if it can save this one.

God, I want this. If I ever find a bottle, it's mine!

Very fizzy. Its a good beer, but it doesn't compete with the Trappist stuff.

Trappistes Rochefort 10 January 16, 2012
Overall Rating

A big disappointment. I was hoping for great quadrupel taste, but I was almost sickened. It smells and almost tastes like toejam. The ABV is quite high, but it's not enough to make up for the bad taste. Overall, the Rochefort beers leave me pining for Chimay.

This is a great tripel. Dunno how it compares to Chimay (because I can't remember), but you can't go wrong with either.

Not quite as good as the other two Chimay products, but it is my favorite tripel.

Not bad. A little sweet for me though. Not as bold as boulevard or sam adams, IMO.

Easily the worst beer I've ever had. I can make diarrhea for free.

At first I liked it, but there's a funny taste about it I just can't nail down. Maybe dish soap.

Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat November 29, 2010

This comes close to Guinness Extra Stout... but not quite. The biggest problem is the cherry flavor, which smells great, but tastes like cough syrup. Awful.

Bell's Expedition Stout 2013 January 10, 2012
Overall Rating

I'm not a stout drinker, but this is pretty damn good. I had it a few weeks ago at a co-workers house and I was very impressed. It's pretty smooth and isn't too strong in the roasted malt department. It's on my A-list!

Firestone Parabola January 10, 2012
Overall Rating

Easily one of the best beers I've ever had. Again, I'm not a stout drinker, but this beer is so unbelievably complex and intensely flavorful that it's mindbottling. Vanilla, chocolate, cherry, and bourbon are the amazing flavors that I noticed immediately. Chimay Grand Reserve has held the top spot for years, but this could very well trump it. "Incredible" is the understatement of all time.

A very interesting beer. You can definitely taste the chipotle peppers. I wouldn't get it again, but it's worth trying once.

Extremely sweet, which is a no-go for me. I was already stuffed from earlier, so that didn't help.
