As the name implies, these lagers are dark gold to deep amber in color. European amber lagers tend to have aromas of toasted malt. The initial flavor is sweet and malty, followed by a bitter, dry finish. The mouthfeel of an amber lager is smooth and creamy. These beers are superb on cool days or alongside barbecued meats and spicy foods.
