About this Brewery
Founded in 1890 by six German immigrants who longed for the taste of a lager from their homeland, Narragansett Beer has always been made on honor & sold on merit. 'Gansett was the best selling beer in New England for most of the 20th century, early marketing illustrations were drawn by Dr. Seuss, it was the original beer of the Red Sox, and the beer that Captain Quint drank in Jaws. No wonder it came to be known as "The Famous Narragansett Beer". After being acquired in the 1970's by a corporate behemoth, the brand suffered through a steep decline and almost died off completely. Today, a group of locals are reviving the brand with the help of former Brew Master, Bill Anderson, and Gansett is on the comeback trail. The product is once again made with honor, and the beers are winning awards on their merit. Hi neighbor, have a Gansett!
