Recently, Evolution Craft Brewing released its latest creation, Rise Up Stout.  It's a roasty, full-flavored caribbean stout that has been cold steeped in Rise Up Coffee, which is yet another brand local to this area, making this the ultimate in local brews.  The cold steeping produces a strong coffee flavor with minimal caffiene content.

Rise Up is a perfect dark brown with a toasty, tan-colored head. The coffee flavor is very strong, at times overpowering the flavor of the beer.  If you like your coffee black, you will love this.  The bartender and I even discussed adding shots of Bailey's or Kalhua to the mix for those who may take their coffee a little lighter. Rise Up Stout is very smooth and quite drinkable.  It's almost like drinking an iced coffee, though it's best to let it warm up a bit for the best experience.  This beer smells great; it has all of the aroma of a full-bodied stout infused with the smell of fresh coffee.  It's almost enough to wake you up.  I heard jokes of how this would make a great "breakfast beer".  The texture is excellent: full, smooth, and enjoyable.  Just what you would expect from a Carribean style stout. While it's hard for me to define value since the beer is currently available only on tap at the brewery, it's safe to say that prices will be similar to EVO's other offerings. That's pretty good value in my book.

Once again, this brew is local to the Salisbury, MD/Delmar, DE area.  If you're in the area and want to try some out, it's well worth a taste.  Once this beer is bottled and kegged, it will be available to all of the Delmarva penninsula as well as many parts of Baltimore, MD and Washington D.C.  Keep your eyes open for Evolution Rise Up Stout.  If you like coffee, you won't be disappointed.
