Whenever I need a good belgian golden strong beer, I reach for a Damnation.
The funk is strong with this one, in such a good way.
a nice light beer with a punch
Poured into a snifter. Batch 056x1. Plenty of carbonation going on here. The cork was far too eager to come out. First pour gave four plus fingers of head. 4.0 A: Hazed orange brownish color. Big moderately dense white froth with good retention and tons of lacing. 4.5 S: Almost saison like due to the big presence of fruit and spices. Pear, peach, lemon, and wild apple fruitiness. Herbal spiciness with a touch of corriander and clove. Small touch of vegetal herbalness as well. Fairly strong yeastiness. 4.0 T: The taste is more lemony that the nose and less of the other fruits. Some banana in there as well. Grassy and herbal hops. Corriander is fairly strong in the taste, but the clove is more subdued like in the nose. Not really strong flavors, but good enough and they seem to work pretty well together. 4.5 M: Medium body. Higher carbonation that comes off as spritzy and works pretty well. Reasonably creamy and smooth. 4.0 D: Definitely a good beer. A bit pricey, but a good treat every now and then. Solid throughout. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-04-2010 01:28:48
strong golden. love it.
Beautiful hazy golden ale. Head did not last but I had the same issue with the preceding beer so I'm going to blame my glass. Aroma of slight sourness with some tropical fruit and candy notes. The taste is a perfect balance of spicy notes and malt. RR is best known for Pliny but They truly shine with these wonderful sours and wild brews. Awesome!
Lived up to the hype. Very floral hop notes, and lots of spices throughout. It tasted like a quintessential Belgian golden strong ale. Crisp, dry, some fruit notes often found in Belgians... Simply put its a top notch representation of the style.
I don't drink a lot of beers like this, but I still enjoyed it. A little too expensive for me, but I admit that I'm a little cheap. Didn't blow me away, but I imagine it's a very solid beer for the style. Good stuff.
Amazing nose. Banana and pears as the tasting notes said. In many ways a toned up version of redemption. Slightly earthy and bitter finish. Hard to articulate what my taste buds are getting but delicious.
Fine Golden Belgian.Light, honey and fruits mix without the overbearing orange or lemon zest. Creamy head stays throughout. Spicy down the throat with a good dryness. A good once in a while wind down beer.
Well done golden ale, slight citrus hint, slightly sweet. Overall excellent beer
An excellent example of a belgian golden. Small amount of belgium funk but well balanced with the crispness of the beer. hops are subtle but add a nice floral aroma.
Wow! Great aroma of slight banana light airy citrus notes and a great Belgian spice character. Poured a hazy light yellow with a small white head. Lacing was left down the glass as I drank it. The flavor was spot on, a bit of sweet citrus and banana/clove character which turns into a malty belgian dryness and finishes with a slight bitter citrus aftertaste. The best way I can describe it is that the citrus character is airy? or fluffy but the beer has a light body and is very carbonated which lends to the lightness in the mouth. Overall very delicious.
Good beer a little to sweet for my tastes.
Unimpressed
Pear in the nose. Tastes as it smells. Super dry and nicely carbonated. Makes it very drinkable. Dangerous.
Big fan of all beers Vinnie and his team brew.
Grassy, hay, warm, spicy
Nice Belgian notes and citrus. A little thin and too dry of a finish, but they had me with the aroma
What a great nose! Pepper, grains of paradise, and candi sugar.
