Poured from a bottle to a tumbler pint glass. A-Nice thick 2 finger light brown foamy head which builds quickly and lasts several minutes. (Maybe due to an aggressive pour.) Deep black color. S-Roasted malts and chocolate. T-Initial tastes of cocoa and malted grains, leads into a slight hoppy finish. M-Slight carbonation which is nice. Not too heavy and easily drinkable. O-Overall a nice stout, one I would definitely purchase again. Not too heavy a drink and quite warming, for the months ahead as they grow colder.

Michael Jackson once called this "the best dry Irisih-style stout in North America, if not the world". He was absolutely right. It lacks the acrid chalky quality of Guinness, but piles up the roastiness. Short finish, leaves you wanting more. Superb.

A lighter bodied stout. Big smoky taste, creamy mouthfeel from the oats. Would be interesting to try on nitro.

Thin head. Pitch perfect black color. Sweet chocolate on the nose with bear hint of coffee. An inviting easy flavor which is a nice change of pace to an imperial stout. Yet, i want more mouth feel. Short finish. A very casual stout ideal for sipping after a very heavy meal.

A lackluster stout...Old 38 needs a new 39.

Had this one in a bottle and then again in a draft because it's just that good. Pours as dark as some of the best rated beers around and smells just as good. It's a bit watery on the pallet but makes up for it flavor. North Coast has another hit on their hands. It's no Rasputin but it can hold it's own.

I don't like stout that much but found this one really nice. Great aromas and the taste is completely different from beginning, middle and end. Delightfully surprised by this one.
