Poured into an tulip. Bottled May 2010, Batch 14. 3.5 A: Hazy peach color. One and a half fingers of creamy/frothy hybrid head with slightly below average retention and touches of lacing. 3.5 S: Light farmhouse funk. Fairly earthy with wood and lemon most prevalent. Touches of wild apples. It gets a bit more funky as it warms, but still is rather weak. 4.0 T: Taste has a lot more complexity to it. Plenty of funk this time with musty basement. Apple and pear fruitiness. Fairly assertive bitterness. Lemon, straw, and peppery. Not too bad. 3.5 M: Lighter body. Carbonation is moderate, but it lays dead on the tongue. Bitterness lingers into aftertaste. 3.5 D: I'm not sure if it was the combo of beers befor it or batch variability, but when I had this a couple days ago at a tasting, I enjoyed it quite a bit more then. I remember it had a lot more fruitiness going on. Anyway, this is decent brew, but just not spectacular in any way. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-31-2010 23:54:32

Poured into a tulip. A: Pours a brilliant yellow/gold with 1 finger of white head that dissipates quickly. Slightly hazy with low to low-medium carbonation. N: Lemon juice, doughy biscuit and hay along with light notes of coriander and wheat. Very subtle nose. T: Pear, lemon juice, hay, notes of doughy bread and a subtle earthy funk upfront. This is followed by crisp light grains, golden delicious apple, wheat, hay and some grassy noble hops mid-palate. Finishes with bitter lemon zest, grassy hops, Bosc pear, a light funk, faint black pepper and perhaps some cantaloupe and banana. M: Light bodied, crisp, clean, juicy and bitter. O: Nice complexity. Has some huge pear notes that couple great with the lemon and hay. Moderate bitterness and lighter funk notes set it apart from other Saisons. Very refreshing and surprisingly juicy.

Bomber (dated May, 2011) poured into a pint glass. A - A beautiful, slightly hazy gold pour with a generous white head that sticks around wonderfully. S - Aroma is of citrus and hops, with a hint of tartness, none of which are overpowering by any means. T - Starts off sweet and citrusy, with maybe a hint of green apple. Next comes a very nice mixture of hop flavor (without too much bitterness) and and the kind of tart, earthy flavor you'd expect from a Saison. M - Crisp, not too carbonated, with a slightly watery feel. Overall - A very unique beer. Extremely well balanced and yet still complex and flavorful enough to be interesting. It's not overwhelming though either, and is still refreshing and easy to drink.

Hoppy with a weaker yeast character. I enjoyed the glass but I've had much better saisons.

Pretty Things Jack D'or Saison bomber from Brew. Pours a golden citrine with little head, just a ring of foam spotted on top. Smells mostly floral & earthy, lilac & lavender... Malt aroma is reminiscent of a pils. Flavor mixes the sour funk of a saison with the hop bite of an English Ale but not too hoppy. A dry finish to cap it all off. Lovely combination. Have to mention the artwork which is oft overlooked in the beer world. Love the VCR tape seal and the bottle artwork. 4
