A nice DIPA with a malt back bone that balances the sharp bitterness this beer brings. Amber in color, with a nice creamy head and lacing. A little malty/sweet for a Double but it does state in the bottle that it is an experimental DIPA. Overall, 3.5. Cheers!

Nice DIPA! will definitely be back for more. Piney, floral in front...a nice bitter in the back.

Poured into a snifter. 4.0 A: Lightly hazed deep orange, near amber color. Two fingers of fairly thick, creamy just off-white head. Average retention for the style and a moderate amount of lacing. 4.0 S: Good bit of citrusy and floral hops, with a touch of sugariness. Grapefruit and orange are the strongest aromas, but there's also sweeter tropical fruits such as pineapple and perhaps mango as well. Just a touch of crystal malt underneath, but the hops do a good job of covering it up. 3.5 T: Moderate bitterness. The crystal malt has a much more pronounced effect on the taste. It's nearly as strong as the hop flavor. Anyway, lots of orange and grapefruit again, but this time the mango and especially the pineapple are at least as strong. Not necessarily boozy, but the 9% ABV is realized. I really liked this and would have given it a higher score if this was a little less sugary. 4.0 M: Medium to slightly greater than medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Good creaminess and smooth. 3.5 D: Pretty good beer. A solid, maltier DIPA. This would be pretty fabulous if the sugary sweetness was knocked down a notch or two. Nice amber color. Smooth taste that goes on for a while. Hoppy but just the way I like it.

Pours medium amber with a moderate head and slight haze. Aroma is more floral (orange blossom?) than citrus. Bitter yet not overly hoppy with a sweet ( alcohol) finish. Overall a very tasty IPA.

Excellent. Extremely balanced for all the alcohol and all the bitterness. Interested in how it would age. But who cares, drink this while it's fresh! This bitch is dialed in. I reiterate how balanced this is, lower body, not thin though with higher alcohol and bitterness and enough malt backbone to support.

I really like this beer. It is not as hoppy as I had expected. There is a slight hop aroma and taste at the front and a sweet almost floral finish. I really like the sweet finish of this beer. It is very well balanced.

So floral. It like a bouquet of hops! And a wonderful taste too.

For an IPA this beer had quite a bit of balance! It was definitely full on hop flavor but with the smoothness of a maltier beer. I would certainly recommend trying this one.

Fruity, maybe apple-ish, spicy hop aroma. Similar flavor, with more citrus in the finish and aftertaste. Nice malt backbone; sweet, but not too much, plus some bread and caramel. A tiny bit of harsh bitterness in the aftertaste; I'm wondering if that might improve with a little more aging (dare i say it?). Deceptively easy-drinking for 8.5%. Best by: 04/25/12; tasted 1/25/12

This one had a cannabis-like hop smell and flavor. Maybe that is the "experimental" aspect of the beer.

One of my favorite Experimental IPA's. Good rich very hop forward flavor, perfect for hot texas days, or cool california nights. Though if you arent a HUGE fan of IPA's stay away

One if my faves. Wonderful hop aroma. A malty but well balanced beer thanks to generous hop additions that make it a one of a kind ipa.

Red amber liquid with a healthy, soapy head. I like this look for a DIPA. Pine, spruce, caramel, grapefruit. Great hop aroma. Gets a tad boozy, but the bitterness of the hops keep it from going overboard. The malt backbone is there and the bitterness level is very good. Pretty good feel - oily with hop essence.
